If one has to do a short story using a single photo taken by someone, what would that be?
Can one unleash his/her creative juices plausible to the photo being the subject?
It can be and can be not. The thing is it's hard to create a story without knowing how it happened.
But definitely, one can brainstorm of a lot of ideas that can be associated to formulate a story out of a single photo.
We call it imagination. Through imagining something and putting ourselves into the subject, we can compose something out of it. The beholder can always put words by describing the photo.
So in this photo of Caleb, I will try to create a simple story, a make-believe one and later on reveal what's the real score in this photo.
Pretending I didn't take this photo here's my take:
"A young boy, probably a year or two, playing in the park. Out of his curiosity and amazement around, he drifted far from his playmates and wander alone in the vastness of the park. Standing anxiously, looking far, trying hard to see any of his playmate around. His failed attempt makes him stood still. Engulfed with fear, he's about to cry as his way of catching attention from anyone who might be near his whereabout. He can't move further as he thinks that he might be too far to be seen. What lingers in his mind is "will he be reunited with his playmates, who may be worried looking after him now."
See, by just looking at the photo you can think of different ways to imagine what's the boy is doing. What was he thinking?
Okay, let's get real, I'll tell you now the real story behind this photo. In this photo, Caleb is looking seriously at the passing bus around our neighborhood. He's so curious about it that every time the bus approaches he'll turn towards the direction of the bus and take a long peek on it.
By the way, the mode of transportation around our compound is through a private 50-seater high end buses, commissioned by the company as a free transport for all the residents working in the hospital. That's why we decided not to purchase a car yet since it's not necessary at the moment. It's like saying, we choose to buy only the things that we need, veered away with the thought of buying a car that only falls under our want - a luxury want. Wise decision right?

If I am to look at the photo and make a story out of it... I say a well-dressed young man (maybe a hobbit ha ha) is waiting for his date - so cute! ha ha
ReplyDeleteWhy does he stands like a man and not a baby or toddler? Na-experience na ba nyang sumakay dun sa bus? He's probably really amazed by the size of it.
I agree with the no car. My family also go need than want or necessity rather than luxury :)
Good one there Ms. B.! And yes, we are more concerned with just what we need than what we want at this stage of our life. Am not saying I didn't splurge before, I did at least but when I realized the difference of a need and a want and having equated the two, I beg to spend more haha.
DeleteKahit nakatalikod, Lil C is pogi! Hihi..
ReplyDeleteWe save as much as we can, if you deem it as luxury pa, then it is luxury. Let time tell as to when you get to buy that car.. For now, enjoy those walking moments with Lil C, be sensitive with his woes and not the sound of the engine. Explore with him his little world of amazement with buses :)
Happy Sunday po!
Thank you Kat! He's just so amazed sa bus kaya siya laging napapalingon every time dumarating sa drop-off/pick-up point ang bawat bus. For now, it's is luxury, after all we can still live with the basic and having car is far from our plan as of yet. I'm taking it one step at a time, enjoying every moment with Little C.
DeleteMaking a story of a picture ..good idea.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we have a car because it is necesary here. Or else I have to walk to go to my job in stormy cold weather:) Madalang lang ang bus dito:)
Well, obviously mommy Joy you need a car for work. Unlike here, we have a free transportation for shopping and visiting places. Thanks
DeleteHere is my take. The place is empty with nothing but browning grass so Caleb is thinking where can he get water for the grass to make them green.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for leaving a message on my blog. Words like those make me wanna continue blogging even thou work gets most of my time. Thanks.
