How To Be A Good Teacher?

Today, I'll let you read an excerpt I got from the net while I was browsing earlier. And the title speaks what I'm referring to.

All of us has a teacher's heart within us. Evidently, we always encounter people young or old who at some point wanted our insights or wants us to share our knowledge on something they don't know. As a result of that, it qualifies us as teachers.

Read below an article to understand more a teacher in you.

If you aspire to become a successful teacher, you must: have a sense of humor, possess an optimistic outlook, set a high standard, prove that you are a consistent teacher, treat all students fairly, and be flexible.

Generally, teachers who do well in their teaching career tend to have similar traits. In order for you to succeed and become a good educator, you must have the right materials and sufficient training. in addition, a competent teacher should possess certain positive characteristics.

These are to be learned, developed and mastered. They are precious qualities, which you cannot buy from a teacher supply store. All of these traits are within you, just waiting to be unlocked and honed. Let us find out if you have what it takes to become the successful teacher you know you can be.

Have a sense of humor

Having a good sense of humor will give you an edge. Your sense of humor can reduce any tension within the classroom, and it will create a pleasant atmosphere for learning. Students will continue to be attentive in class and will look forward to being in school. This will not only give a positive effect to your students but to yourself as well. It will be easier for you to tackle a stressful teaching life because of the happy disposition brought about by your good sense of humor.

Have an optimistic outlook

Having an optimistic outlook is a plus for you. Your profession may bring about problems and difficulties along the way. Nevertheless, you will surely be able to deal with them triumphantly because you are equipped with the right attribute: a positive attitude.

Set a high standard

High standards and expectations will boost the achievement capacity level of your students. When you increase the yardstick of your expectations, your students will give more of their efforts, too. This will give them the right attitude towards their studies and will give them the confidence they need, too. Just make sure you do not make you expectations and standards unattainable.

Prove that you are a consistent teacher

To be able to establish a good classroom environment that will aid students in learning, you must be able to deliver a clear and sound set of rules. Let your students know what they can expect from you every time you meet for class.

Treat all students fairly

It is so easy for students to notice it when a teacher is being unfair. Treating students unfairly is not an option. It is required and expected that you treat every student fairly at all times.

Be flexible

One of the principles of teaching is to be able to adjust to continuous change. Distractions and disturbances are likely to occur in between normal days. Thus, a flexible teacher will remain calm and in control when these things happen. He will even continue to have zest for the rest of the day.

Obedience

Today, I'll be profiling a person so close to my heart. Wonder who is it? Well, just direct your eyes down and you'll know who.....

     His obedience is awesome and his way of facing life's challenges is fantastic. His name is John Howard Rafol Gamitin, a young man, a passionate lover of martial arts, a guitar player and an ace freshman student in a state university. And he is my eldest nephew to wit;

I've written about him because I was just strucked by the conversation we had awhile ago. He's really keeping up to my fair expectations. I felt so grateful that he's learning to appreciate the values we took years of inculcating inside his young mind. He has grown to be a young lad with lots of promising ideals and visions in his life. His sensitivity within the surrounding he interacts allow him to learn more of the much needed insights and values a young man must equip to fairly and reasonably tackles life's challenges and upsets.

strking a shy-type pose....hehehe!

I had been so hopeful that he may grow wise and more mature his age. And bingo! he is turning into one. I have never knew or seen someone close to me speak the way Howard speaks his mind. He may be young both in heart, mind and physical stature but how he talks about his set of experiences in life puts me in amazement. How he tackles every situation is far more than my expactations.

It is such a joy to realize how his personality evolved from someone who is naive and relatively shy to a young man whose strength and determination as well as idealism in pursuing his passions lie in the core of his immediate family. How he meticulously listen to every words of wisdom we share and how he took by heart advices he solicits from us.

We are so proud of you--young and willful man! Whatever accolades you are reaping are all worth for you. I have just one thing I want you to inculcate in mind and always carry with you wherever your dreams may lead you. It goes like this: Dream your dreams, do your best, never doubt, never rest, until the dream is yours. And lastly, always dedicate your plans and success to our great God above all else. And highly value your family.

Until my next blog. Pardon me, but I guess I'll be concentrating more on human interest stories. So, on this note, I'll be featuring ordinary yet equally exciting personalities from my circle of influences. Godbless and have a nice read.......

Silent Outburst

Our daily lives are composed of variety of emotions. Waking up in the morning you feel refreshed and energized. Upon reaching the wash room suddenly you become constipated. Time to take a bath renders you so agitatingly cold. At breakfast it becomes exciting. Now, you're hurrying for school or office quickly put you in a hassle-mood. In school, first period either makes you boring or lecture-engaged. Office makes your routine works monotonous. At break time, seeing your crush makes your heart thumps fast. In the office, the sight of your boss in a not-so-good-mood rendered you anxious. So, these are the typical scenarios our emotions display in daily life's struggles. No matter what is our circusmtances maybe, we alone are the masters of our actions and reactions. What a positive person sees in a very difficult situation is a challenging point on him. While in the eyes of a negative dweller, it pisses him off. Handling things either positively or negatively develop a certain traits in us. As they say, whatever you sow, you will also reap.

As I was watching the news continuously I can't help but let go of my silent outburst about the current happenings in our country. As an OFW, whose primal dream is to provide a descent living for his family, I am really affected by the cries of millions of Filipinos who hungers for change and starve in their daily existence. I felt helpless in thinking when and how can we finally alleviate our people standard of living if many of our government officials continue to err against our system and its people. Worse to think, it involves financial matters not in a meager amount but in millions of bucks.

It is so disappointing to think that eventhough they were sworn to office and have certain ethical standards that they (should) abide, yet they still has this mock-faced personality to do malicious conducts which discredit them.

As they say, human as we are, we are sometimes carried away into a certain situation that our emotional control just doesn't work right.

Good Thoughts In Life & Commitment

I wanna share with you some thoughts pertaining to commitment and marriage and life in general. This was series of thoughts after having a great convy with a good friend. Listen folks you might get something good from it.

A SOULFUL RELATIONSHIP

Once you decided to commit to someone, overtime, his flaws, vulnerabilities, pet peeves and differences will become more obvious. If you love your mate and want the relationship to grow and evolve, you have to learn to close one eye and not let everything bother you. You and your mate have many different expectations, emotional needs, values, dreams, weaknesses and strengths. You are two unique individual children of God who have decided to share a life together. Neither of you are perfect, but are you perfect for each other? Do you bring out the best in each other? Do you compliment and compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare and control? What do you bring to the relationship? Do you bring past relationship, past hurt, past mistrust, past pain?

Manipulation, control, jealousy, neediness and selfishness are not the ingredients of a thriving, healthy loving and lasting relationship. Seeking status, sex, wealth and security are the wrong reasons to be in a relationship. What keeps a relationship strong? Communication, intimacy, trust, a sense of humor, sharing household tasks, some getaway time without business and daily exchanges ( a meal, shared activity, a hug, a call, a touch, a note). Leave a nice message on their voicemail or send a nice mail. Sharing common goals and interests. Growth is important. Grow together, not away from each other, giving each other space to grow without feeling insecure.

Allow your mate to have outside interests. You can’t always be together. Give each other a sense of belonging and assurances of commitment. Don’t try to control one another. Learn each other’s family situation. Respect his parents regardless. Don’t put pressure on each other for material goods. Remember for richer or for poorer. If these qualities are missing the relationship will erode as resentment, withdrawal, abuse, neglect, dishonesty and pain replace the passion.

Remember, the difference between "united" and "untied" is where you put the "i".

That’s all folks….those who can read it—it’s nice to know you pause your work and find time reading it. For would-be-readers—-you can learn a lot from these basic facts of life and commitment.

     Until my next blog. Goodnight!

Tough Day

Yesterday was so tough. I felt I was baffled.

It was lack of sleep which consumed me to really be in a struggling state. My body was like weak—five senses were not working in excellent condition. It’s as if my blood isn’t running at a normal speed. My energy is like in a dormant state.

I had been having concern sleeping way so late especially if the clock ticks past 12 midnight. Bingo! I promise you guys, it’ll be a horror getting sleep during that time. Ang hirap ko ng makatulog. Parang nakainom ako ng substance which rendered me to stay awake for like hours. Even to the point where I even reached 4am wide awake.

In the office, what makes the situation worse was part of me struggles to stay awake while in the middle of calling clients and interacting with my work colleagues. Funny as it was, I need to be smart enough not to forget important errands that day. Plus my boss was constantly ringing my phone to hear some updates from the suppliers I was tasked to contact.

So far I still managed to finish urgent errands and was able to deliver on my required task. Buti nalang sanay na ako sa “multi-tasking” way of working.

That’s all folks. No other significant topics to write about. Just having the “me” time. It’s all about me ika nga..hehehe…

Until my next blog. Keep posted.
