“What
has life to offer me when I grow old”? - This is the first line of the famous song "Next In LIne of After Image (I don't remember which year) that literally hit me while thinking of the first thing to write about this post.
Quite sad isn't it? Well, I won't focus on the tear-jerking thoughts in here, though, maybe along the lines I may hit some emotions. But I'll try to make it as interesting and short as possible- knowing I'm a wordy guy. I wish I could have all the elements in writing to do all these. But heck! I'll give it a try.
Cliche tells us that "life is what we make it". I agree to it. We choose what we want, we choose our decision. Our daily existence is part of how we partake in the banquet of the world. There, we have plenty of choices - and WE ALWAYS HAVE A CHOCE! which one to pick up or out, which one to pursue and which one to make our stand for. In life, we are presented with myriad of choices. Choices that sometimes fit or unfit our system.
I strongly disagree about the idea that sometimes we are left without a choice. We only say we don't have a choice anymore when what's left with us is a choice that we don't want to be part of. There is this certain negation in us that we keep on denying about the choice laid upon us. At some point, we tend to blame God for giving us a hard one. A choice that literally set us out of our comfort zone. But we never realized that God gave us that certain choice for our own good. for our growth, for us to be stronger, for us to entertain life that completely deviates to what we always expect.
In short, God wants us to pursue the part that few people desires to stride on. And that is called 'risk". And I would say, it's a Godly risk. Why? It is because God won't allow us with a choice we can't bear, a choice we can't be victorious in the end.
A choice maybe so difficult sometimes but it's God's way of refining us. Initially, we tend to awkwardly react to the choice laid upon us especially if we aren't expecting them to be such.
But, ACCEPTANCE is the key. In a certain crossroad, there is always a choice that will ignite you to move ahead. Our mind might be too clouded with denial which fuels our negation against the choice presented to us but once you learn to accept it and dwell on the bright side of things why a certain choice, not to our likings, was presented we will be able to appreciate it. Thus, propels us to drive along with it and smoothly move ahead.
On another positive note, we can always ask question like this: "What's in it that's going to teach me?" Instead of bickering, whining, and complaining, why not give the positive side of you take the lead?
And having an attitude of optimism, anything that seems unsurpassable or insurmountable will begin to become possible.
With that last note above, Good night everyone. Tomorrow is a new day with a fresh & new hope.

Choice is a simple word but it has a great impact in our life yan yung sinabi sa akin ng Maestro ko.
ReplyDeleteRix - Yes, kasi our choice + our attitude = makes our life. :)) thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteThe DILEMMA: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
ReplyDeleteSuper agree ako Mr. J.
ReplyDeleteWe do have a choice. Parang nung minsan nanonood ako ng documentary. Sabi nung lalaking iniinterview wala na daw silang magawa sa kalagayan nila kasi mahirap sila. Napaisip ako totoong wala nga ba? Nakita ko mukha naman syang malakas. Pwede syang mag trabaho.
Tama ka din... choice + attitude makes our life.
I remember the famous line in SUPERMAN upcoming movie MAN OF STEEL- that "we are all set to decide what kind of man we choose in the future.. .whatever that man is, it will change the world"
ReplyDeletewe have free will and that is one of God's gifts to human. I just hope that whatever ordeals we have, we choose to be good and responsible in our actions../ nice hehe
well choices, i could say it's our daily test given by our teacher, GOD. The result will always rely on our answers, so better choose the right one. If it happened that you have chosen a wrong answer don't worry GOD never fail us.
ReplyDeletei guess its a way of god to bend us toward him so he kept on giving us such thing for us to see the right path in our journey in life
that's so inspiring daddy jay. sometimes when life's choices are really not favorable to me, di maiiwasang maging nega. pero good thing im surrounded with optimistic friends and family members at least nakakabangon din kahit madalas fail.
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiring once again with this post Daddy Jay.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed we all have a choice.
It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.
Have a great day!
I love this:
ReplyDeleteBut we never realized that God gave us that certain choice for our own good. for our growth, for us to be stronger, for us to entertain life that completely deviates to what we always expect.
It is always worth taking " Godly risk."
Very inspiring and awakening post. Thanks Jay. You have God's wisdom in you! Keep sharing inspiring!
Cy - Initially, it might look like a dilemma but if we begin to see the wisdom behind it, we will learn to come to term with it.
ReplyDeleteGenskie- Yes, we are created equal in God's eyes, only our society puts standards and division. But it is still up to us what we should make out of our life.
ReplyDeleteJeison - It is about taking responsibility over the decision and action we take. We are living our life if we can take a stand on what we believed in.
ReplyDeletePhioxee - At times, we tend to be so negative, but as we go along with it and manage to make use of our positive side then we can get through it naman. :) Plus the help of the positive people around us, surely we won't be astrayed.
Nice. I've heard it sa isang movie hehe
ReplyDeleteMommy Joy - Thanks po! I'd say I'm being influenced by the books I have read, most I read inspirational stories from great authors :)))
ReplyDeleteMecoy - Yes, trials are set by God in order for us to get closer to Him again.
ReplyDeleteand this is so true to me daddy jay!! superb!! i so love this post! it reminds me of the choices i made in my life, it may be hurting but i felt like i made the right choice, yes it is in those moment i just thought of having no choice at all but may choice pa rin kasi pipili ka eh. ang gulo ko na hahaha pero yon na talaga yon. lahat ng decision sa buhay eh kailangan may choice! at ang choice na yan, kailangan panindigan! with that choice, ito na ang buhay ko ngayon, simply as maingay echooss hahaha hindi masaya ako sa path na tinatahak ko ngayon! hehehe
ReplyDeletebasta always keep in mind na sa bawat choice natin, we have to face whatever consequences na meron. :)
ReplyDeleteWell Said. :)
ReplyDeleteA choice is like a perfect love story - it happens once your brave and ready for it. :) I always believe that we have a choice, we are just not choosing them yet because like a love story, it feels like it wont work. :)
Lala- Need I say more? Thanks. Indeed, may choice talaga tayo everytime we decide on things.
ReplyDeleteBino - Exactly, it's like one should be man enough to face whatever is the outcome of his decision.
ReplyDeleteLJ - Thanks :)))
ReplyDeleteit makes you wonder what'd it be like if we made the other big choice in life years ago.
ReplyDeleteAdam - Hmmm..I guess we could have gone that far if our past decisions were that big. Thanks for the comment :)
ReplyDeleteWell written post :).
ReplyDeleteLoved reading it.
It's all about choices indeed.Makes me wonder.. what's really the hardest part? Is it making a choice or accepting what will be the end result of our decisions.
ReplyDeleteWell, if it's a good thing after our decision making then we're extremely happy about it. The saying goes with it like "buti na lang ganun pinili ko" or "tama talaga desisyon ko na.."
Pero if it's not then that's the time we look for someone to pour out our anger and depression.
We makes decision and choices on a daily basis. What's really hard about choices is not picking up the right thing we think best for us but but the thought beyond that. We think about the outcome and that's usually the reason that makes decision making really hard.
We just don't do it for ourselves. It's not always about ME but always US. We always consider our family who always supports us in what we wants in our life. And when everything else fails after all, they'll be the first people who will pick you up and continue supporting you.
Always JUMP into the BRIGHTER side.
Idziher - Thanks for the compliment! and for the visit as well. I'll check out your blog soon. :)
ReplyDeleteJune - A well-thought of comment. It's like practicing your conversational ability because you're gonna join a male beauty pageant. Kidding!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, thanks for putting up a long comment.
God Bless.
ReplyDeleteDon't quote too much lyrics from songs of the 90's Napaghahalata ang edad. Hhahaha! But really, those were the days when songs spoke so much of our anxieties and sentiments. NGayon ang mga kanta ng kabataan is all about partying and fun, as if naman laging may ganun ang mga munting kumag. hahahaa!
ReplyDeleteMoving on...
"I strongly disagree about the idea that sometimes we are left without a choice. We only say we don't have a choice anymore when what's left with us is a choice that we don't want to be part of."- it is true.
We ALWAYS have a choice.
Pero I think in some ways, God puts us a difficult situation that is supposed to be a turning point in life, but he allows us to make a choice and how to react on it. In my life, I've made one wrong choice upon another, heaping up more regrets and sh*ts in life.
I've already given up on life right now. i don't celebrate my birthdays after my 21st because I just have pure contempt for life itself. And it all boils down to those moments when I made wrong choices and never even learned from them.
I know. It's the syndrome of stupid and stubborn individuals. But it's really hard. We always choose those things that are within our grasp in within the perimeter of our comfort zone.
I also think that we ALWAYS have other options. But we're not willing to MAKE SACRIFICES that's why we tend to choose the easier ones, and eventually end up in the pit of misery.
Kasi naman, if one has to make the right choice eh herculean effort ang kailangan at commitment.
I guess haven't risked enough. But I believe in second-chances as long as God permits me to have some, hehehe!
your post made me think... A LOT! And I am really compelled to think about the choices I've made and the decisions I will be making in the near future.
I've been considering the 'what if's' and the outcomes. I'm praying that God would give me one more chance to start with a clean slate because it all really boils down to what I haven't done when I was 18.
As usual Jay, you're posts are always inspiring and full of positive things. I might try contaminating comment boxes with my cynicism and frustrations here, hehehehe! Keep up the good work and the Lord's work!
Nice post. I believe that every day is a chance for improvement. Solutions to problems might not come immediately but we should also value the virtue of waiting. :)
ReplyDeleteJessica - Thanks :) Tama ka, it's about how we react on the situation laid upon us.
ReplyDeleteMr. Tripster - A well written comment. Need I say more. Thanks for always giving additional inputs in my post. I am learning so much from you as well. Sobrang substantial ang mga ideas, views, opinions, and insights mo. Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteNOTE: It isn't too late to start again and make things right. Give it a try!
Mitch - Yes, I can't agree more. We should wait with a loving longing dapat and not rush things out. We should appreciate the journey ahead kumbaga.
ReplyDeleteChoices are multiple answer that God presented to you during the test.. what ever you pick will eventually lead you to the right answer, pero iba iba nga lang ang style ng pag apply sa buhay, parang sa pagluluto ng tinapay.. pweding e daan sa pugon, oven toaster, microwave oven o kaya sa gasrange oven or electric oven.. ibat ibang istilo iisa ang gusto makagawa ka ng tinapay pero ang bawat style na mapili ibat iba naman ang lasa.
ReplyDeleteZei - I can't agree more. You comment has a favorable spice and a creative one. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
ReplyDeletereading back the comments daddy, at pahabaan ba ito ng mga comments? hahahahahaa natawa ako kay june first time ko ata yan nakita ganyan kahaba ang comment niya sa mga blog! hahahahaha

ReplyDeleteJosh - Whatever choice we pursue the important thing is that we stand by it and make way to make it a better choice in the end. Thanks! Miss you guys too!
choices will not always land within our comfort zones which makes some people think that they do not have any choice at one point of their lives. i experienced that myself but apparently i realized that i was just being risk-averse. there is more to discover and to experience if one learns how to step out of his/her comfort zone!
ReplyDeleteMarvs- Exactly! being out of our comfort zones is just simply allowing ourselves to be more open minded about the things beyond. Thus, opening our minds to a myriad of opportunities.
ReplyDeleteIt is up to us how are we gonna take our choices. Thanks for the comment!
